Vaccine update for Cohorts 5 & 6
Cohort 5 (65 – 69 years)
Following our update on Friday 12th, we’d like to further clarify the current position and changes that have occurred.
The morning of Thursday 11th, permission was given for local GP led sites to commence inviting cohort 5, if sites were confident that the offer to cohort’s 1 – 4 had been achieved. By Thursday evening, we had new instruction to invite cohort 6 (16 – 64 years ‘at risk’), with cohort 5 being invited nationally – to attend mass vaccination sites and local pharmacies.
This unexpected change in instruction has, understandably, caused some concern and confusion for which we apologise.
If you are in cohort 5 and are able to take up the national invite to attend at a mass site or pharmacy, please do so as they will be able to offer you a vaccine promptly.
If you are in cohort 5 and are unable to attend at one of the sites offered on the national invite, please send an email to covid.vaccine1@nhs.net detailing your full name, telephone number, date of birth, post code and which surgery you are registered. We will then be in touch to offer you an appointment at one of our clinics – this is subject to our vaccine supply so your patience is greatly appreciated, we will contact you as soon as we can. If you do not have an email account, a friend or relative is welcome to email us on your behalf.
Once all cohort 5 and 6 patients have been invited, we will then continue to actively contact unvaccinated patients in both cohorts to offer a vaccine slot
Cohort 6 (16 – 64 years ‘at risk’)
Please wait for us to contact you to book your vaccine appointment, this will be an ongoing process due to the size of cohort 6 and the limitations of our vaccine supply. Your patience is really appreciated, thank you.
